48-year-old Christopher John Still formerly of the Marysville and Halifax boroughs of police is accused of submitting for hours he never worked while employed with the Halifax Borough from 2019 and 2022— resulting in a theft of $98,754.50, according to a release by the Dauphin County district attorney's office on Dec. 1.
Additionally, he is accused of taking three guns from the evidence locker— two of which were sold to Reeser’s Gun Shop for $500, according to the criminal complaint. Police subsequently recovered those two firearms, the DA says.
Detective Robert Ligon of the Criminal Investigation Division of the DA's office led the investigation and filed an affidavit stating that "Still did not work during the times listed on the time sheets that he submitted to receive pay."
While working as a police officer he apparently did very little work, making "no arrests, issued no citations, and rarely logged into the Halifax police record systems" and he submitted "hours at the Marysville Borough Police Department overlapped with his recorded hours at Halifax," according to the release and court documents.
Colleagues at both stations reported that was often "not in uniform and did not complete work tasks," and he "was rarely present at the Halifax station."
Still has been charged with seven felons; three for Theft By Unlaw Taking-Movable Property, one for Theft By Deception-False Impression, and three for Receiving Stolen Property, according to his court docket.
He's been held in the Dauphin County Prison in lieu of $50,000 in bail and his preliminary hearing has been set before Magisterial District Judge Gregory D. Johnson on Dec. 13 at 2 p.m., court records show.
One of the three guns, A Winchester .243 Rifle remains missing, according to the DA.
